Tremaine Edmunds: Giants place linebacker on IR, season over

THE FACT. The Giants placed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds on injured reserve Saturday, announced on the team's own site and confirmed by NFL.com. Pro Football Rumors reported Friday that he is finished for the season, citing ESPN's Jordan Raanan on a torn chest muscle and The Athletic's Dan Duggan on a shoulder injury. New York activated cornerback Paulson Adebo off injured reserve in the same set of moves.

THE VERDICT. Pro Football Rumors has Edmunds playing all 380 of New York's defensive snaps through six games with 50 tackles, two sacks and two pass breakups, so this is a genuine hole rather than a rotational loss. IDP: drop him in redraft leagues, he is not stashable at this point in the year. The same report has Micah McFadden stepping in alongside first-round rookie Reese, and McFadden had played two defensive snaps all season, so the snap jump is the entire case for adding him. Add McFadden now in deep IDP formats, 5% FAAB. Dynasty: Edmunds was already on a short runway, so treat this as a sell-for-anything situation.
