Travis Kelce: downgraded to limited Thursday with ankle

THE FACT. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was downgraded to a limited participant at Thursday's practice with an ankle injury after practicing fully on Wednesday, per NBC Sports' Charean Williams and CBS Sports. CBS noted Kelce was also limited last week and played against Seattle without a game designation, catching four of eight targets for 44 yards.
THE VERDICT. A full-to-limited move on a Thursday is the flag, not the verdict. Redraft: keep starting him, since he played through the same limitation a week ago, but watch Friday's practice. Dynasty: no action. DFS: last week's 44-yard output plus a limited ankle is not a price worth paying, so fade him and look at cheaper tight ends.

The fade logic leans on 44 yards, but he saw eight targets in that game. The usage was fine, the yards weren't, and that's variance more than a role change. He's still TE7 in points per game with a team-leading 17.8 percent target share, 2.23 yards per route run and a 19.2 percent first-read share. A Thursday limited tag on a guy who has played through it all year mostly just scares other people off him. In DFS that's leverage, and I'd rather own him cheap at low ownership than pay up for a tight end nobody is worried about.
