Saquon Barkley: expects back and hamstring to be fine

THE FACT. Barkley told reporters after Monday night's 38-21 loss to Dallas that his hamstring "came out great" and that he does not expect the back injury that ended his night to keep him out, per ESPN's Tim McManus and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Coach Nick Sirianni said Barkley was working on a pitch count in his return from the hamstring issue, per NFL.com.

THE VERDICT. Redraft: start him if he practices, and Philadelphia gets extra recovery time before a Sunday night trip to Washington on Nov. 1. The pitch count is the real risk here, not the back. A capped workload turns a every-week RB1 into a flex, so do not drop your contingency plan yet. Watch the Wednesday and Thursday practice reports before you lock a lineup. DFS: fade until the Eagles show they will feed him a full workload. Dynasty: hold, nothing here changes his value.

Taking the other side of that DFS call. Look at how he was used, not how little: seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown plus two catches, and he touched the ball on basically every snap he was out there. That is a snap cap, not a usage cap, and nine or ten snaps already produced a flex-worthy score. Pierce came out of that game banged up too. If Saquon dresses Sunday night at the ownership a back scare creates, that is leverage, not a fade.
