Elijah Mitchell: Eagles elevate running back for Sunday night

THE FACT. The Eagles elevated running back Elijah Mitchell from the practice squad for Sunday night's game at Washington, the team announced on its official site Saturday evening. Philadelphia pointed to injuries at the position, with three running backs on injured reserve, and this is Mitchell's second straight elevation.
THE VERDICT. Redraft: leave him on the wire. CBS Sports places Mitchell behind Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce, and he handled three carries and three catches as the RB3 against Dallas in Week 7. That is a handcuff role, not a startable one. Dynasty: no action - a 2026 practice-squad shuttle is not an asset. DFS: fade. The only path to volume is an injury to someone ahead of him, which is a lottery ticket, not a plan.

Taking the other side here. Philly is down to three active backs for Sunday night - Barkley, Mitchell, and Jaydon Blue, who still hasn't taken an offensive snap for them - with Bigsby, Shipley and Pierce all on IR. Barkley sat Wednesday and Thursday with the hamstring and back before a Friday full go, and no designation isn't the same as healthy. Mitchell turned roughly a quarter of work against Dallas into six touches and 34 yards. That's a last-bench-spot add for me, and in DFS I'd take him at the minimum over an outright fade.
