Saquon Barkley: back injury ends his Monday night

THE FACT. Barkley left Philadelphia's 38-21 loss to Dallas with a back injury and was listed questionable to return early in the fourth quarter, per NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk and a RotoWire report carried by CBS Sports on Monday night. He finished with seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown plus two catches for nine yards, the same line he held when the designation came, and he did not touch the ball again. NFL.com reported that Nick Sirianni had him on a pitch count Monday in his first game back from a two-game hamstring absence.

THE VERDICT. Redraft: week-to-week until Philadelphia puts out a practice report. A back problem stacked on a hamstring he was already managing is the worst combination for a back whose value is built on volume. Hold him only if your bench can absorb a zero, and get Dameon Pierce rostered now if he is sitting on waivers, keeping in mind Pierce also left Monday hurt. Dynasty: hold, nothing here moves his long-term price. DFS: fade the whole Philadelphia backfield until a practice report clears it.
