Saquon Barkley: absent from Thursday practice (back, hamstring)

THE FACT. Barkley did not appear for the open portion of Thursday's Eagles practice, per the Philadelphia Inquirer, carrying both back and hamstring issues on the report. He returned from a two-game hamstring absence against Dallas and was limited to nine touches as his back compensated, and he said he does not expect the back to keep him out but deferred to the medical staff. Philadelphia plays Washington on Sunday night.

THE VERDICT. Redraft: you start him if he practices Friday, but the nine-touch game against Dallas is the warning. Have a flex option ready and check the Sunday inactives before kickoff. Dynasty: no panic, though a back issue stacked on a hamstring is worth monitoring the rest of the season. DFS: fade in cash, and treat him as a low-owned tournament dart only if Friday is clean.

Different read on the Friday-practice test. He hasn't taken a rep in two sessions, and it's a back issue stacked on a hamstring that already cost him two games, so a limited Friday tag isn't enough for me to start him Sunday night. I'd pivot now instead of waiting. Where I'd actually lean is Jaydon Blue, the only healthy back on the active roster with Bigsby, Shipley and Pierce all on IR. That's a near-full workload at minimal ownership if Saquon sits. Seven carries for 62 and a score on Monday says efficient, not available.
