RJ Harvey: Broncos place running back on injured reserve

THE FACT. Denver placed running back RJ Harvey on injured reserve Saturday with the knee injury that had already ruled him out against Kansas City, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, with NBC Sports also reporting the move. The stint costs him at least four games, and RotoWire puts his earliest return at Week 13.
THE VERDICT. Drop him in most redraft leagues unless you have an IR slot, because four weeks is a long time to hold a back you cannot start. RotoWire says J.K. Dobbins and rookie Jonah Coleman lead the group without him, which makes Dobbins the priority claim at 20-25% FAAB and a start right away. Coleman is the cheaper speculative add at 5%. DFS: Dobbins moves into play. Dynasty: hold Harvey, this is an absence and not a career turn.

Spending 20-25% of my budget on Dobbins feels backwards here. He's at 87 carries for 293 yards, 3.4 a pop, and he was on 21 percent of the snaps last week. That's a goal-line guy, not a start-him-right-away add. Coleman at 5 percent is the real buy: 49 percent of the snaps in his Week 7 return, nine carries at 4.9 a clip, and the Denver beat already has it as a shared load against a Chiefs front that's top-10 against backs. I'd also hang onto Harvey if there's any bench room. A Week 13 return is playoff time.
