Reed Blankenship: Texans rule out safety with concussion

THE FACT. Houston ruled Blankenship out for Sunday against the Giants with concussion and hand injuries, per the Texans' official Week 7 injury report updated Friday and NFL.com's Friday news roundup. Safety Jalen Pitre was ruled out on the same report with a shoulder injury.

THE VERDICT. IDP: bench him, a concussion ruling on Friday closes the door on Sunday. Redraft and Dynasty: hold, this reads as a short-term absence. DFS: Houston is without both safeties listed on its injury report, and that is the cleanest reason to pay up for New York pass-catchers this week. Do not spend a waiver claim on an unnamed replacement safety until the Texans say who starts.
