Marcus Mariota: on track to practice this week (knee)

THE FACT. Washington quarterback Marcus Mariota is on track to return to practice this week after a sprained MCL in his right knee, per The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala, and coach Dan Quinn said Monday that Mariota will be back on the field this week, per NFL.com. Mariota missed the Commanders' last two games and gained extra runway from the Week 7 bye.
THE VERDICT. This is a depth-chart story, not a lineup change. Jayden Daniels is Washington's starter, and Mariota slots back in behind him ahead of Sunday night against Philadelphia after Athan Kaliakmanis filled the backup job while he was out. Redraft: no action needed. Dynasty: nothing moves. The only leagues where this matters are superflex formats where you are carrying insurance against a Daniels absence, and even there Mariota is a bench stash rather than a starter. Fade in DFS.
