Ladd McConkey: concussion cleared, will play against Rams

THE FACT. Ladd McConkey is set to play against the Rams on Sunday after clearing concussion protocol, with the Chargers taking him off the injury report Friday, per NBC Sports' Myles Simmons. The Chargers' own report had him as a full participant Wednesday and Thursday, and he was hurt in Week 6 before the team's bye.
THE VERDICT. Start him. Three full practices and no designation is as clean a return as this position offers, and the bye gave him extra runway. Redraft: a WR2 with a solid floor in a divisional matchup. DFS: play him, and the layoff should keep tournament ownership soft relative to the role. Dynasty: no change to his value.

A clean practice report and a clean role are two different things. McConkey is at 18 targets, 13 catches, 200 yards in five games this year, about 7.8 PPR a game, and 12 of those 13 catches came in the first four weeks. That is not a WR2 floor, that is a flex you cross your fingers on. Now he draws a Rams defense allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points to receivers, attached to an 0-6 offense sitting last in EPA per play. I am benching him and fading in DFS. Health was never the problem here.
