Jaylen Waddle: no practice Wednesday with chest injury

THE FACT. Broncos receiver Jaylen Waddle did not practice Wednesday with a chest injury he aggravated in Sunday's win over Arizona, per CBS Sports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Denver has not settled his status for Week 8 against Kansas City, and NBC Sports carried the same uncertainty Wednesday.
THE VERDICT. A full Wednesday absence this late in the week puts him on the doubtful track. Redraft: find a replacement now rather than waiting on Friday, and do not build your flex around him. Dynasty: hold, a chest issue carries no long-term concern. DFS: fade him entirely, including as a cheap pivot, because a limited Waddle is the worst version of this bet. If Denver rules him out, the passing volume concentrates and that is where the value sits.

The DFS line is where I go the other way. Rapoport has this hinging on how practice goes, so Thursday and Friday decide it, not a Wednesday rest day on an aggravation. Waddle was limited twice before Arizona and still led Denver with seven targets, and he's running a 22.5 percent target share on the year. He tweaked it on a trick play Payton already apologized for calling, not on anything that lingers. If he's active in a Broncos-Chiefs game, nobody owns him. Twenty-plus years of this tells me that's the spot I want, not a fade.
