THE FACT. The Chargers ruled safety Derwin James Jr. out of Sunday's game against the Rams with a hamstring injury, per NBC Sports' Myles Simmons. The Chargers' own injury report had him missing both Wednesday and Thursday practices, and head coach Jim Harbaugh said this week that James had a rehab setback and could be placed on injured reserve.

THE VERDICT. IDP: bench him, and if your bench is short, the injured-reserve talk makes him a real drop conversation rather than a stash. His tackle and pressure production does not transfer cleanly to any one replacement. Redraft: fade the Chargers defense as a streamer with James out and cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Rodney Shelley both questionable. DFS: Los Angeles' secondary is thinner this week than the matchup pricing suggests.
