THE FACT. The Chargers placed safety Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve Saturday with a hamstring injury, per NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, which reported he is not eligible to return until Nov. 29 at the earliest. James has not played since Sept. 27, coach Jim Harbaugh said this week that he hit a setback in rehab, and Los Angeles signed cornerback Isas Waxter to the active roster and elevated cornerback Kaiir Elam for Sunday.

THE VERDICT. IDP managers lose an every-week starter for at least a month. Cut him in weekly leagues and stash only if you have an open IR slot. Dynasty holds, but a soft-tissue injury that has now cost him most of the season is a real red flag on his trade value. The ripple matters too: the Los Angeles secondary is thinner without him, so tight ends and slot receivers facing the Chargers tick up a tier in Redraft and become viable DFS pivots.
