Christian Kirk: expected to play with Evans, Samuel out

THE FACT. Kirk is listed questionable for Sunday at Atlanta with the calf injury that has kept him on injured reserve since training camp, but 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan called the designation procedural and said he is expected to play, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner. San Francisco released Ogbo Okoronkwo on Friday to open a roster spot, and 49erswebzone reported Friday that the activation is expected Saturday; the team had not announced it.

THE VERDICT. Kirk walks into real volume. Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) are both out, leaving Brandin Cooks, Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing as the other healthy receivers, per SFGate. Redraft: a reasonable add in deeper leagues at 5-8% FAAB, and a flex play only once the activation is official. DFS: a cheap punt with a path to target share, but fade him if San Francisco has not moved him off injured reserve by Sunday morning. Dynasty: hold nothing on this, he is a short-term rental.
