Sam Darnold: MRI clean, expected to miss Week 2 vs. Cardinals

THE FACT. Darnold's Thursday-morning MRI on his hip came back without structural damage, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Seahawks feel they dodged a serious outcome. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Darnold is expected to sit out Week 2 at Arizona on Sept. 20 with a return in a few weeks, and GM John Schneider told reporters Thursday afternoon there is no firm timeline yet. Drew Lock, who finished Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots, starts if Darnold cannot go.

THE VERDICT. Redraft: hold Darnold on your bench, this is a two-to-three week absence and not a season-changer, but do not burn an IR slot expecting a Week 2 return.
