Russ Yeast: Bengals promote him to active roster

THE FACT. The Bengals signed safety Russ Yeast off their own practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, per the team announcement relayed by NBC Sports' Josh Alper and by On SI's Russell Heltman. Cincinnati opened the spot by placing tight end Tanner Hudson on injured reserve Monday, and also added tight end Josh Kattus and linebacker Emany Johnson to the practice squad while releasing safety Isaiah Nwokobia.
THE VERDICT. Yeast has four tackles across two game-day elevations this season, so this is roster math, not a promotion into a defined job. IDP: leave him on the wire outside the deepest leagues and wait for Cincinnati to give him defensive snaps before spending anything. The more useful nugget here is the tight end room, where Hudson is out for months with a torn pec, clearing those targets for whoever handles the position at Baltimore on Sunday. Redraft: no action on Yeast.
