Ravens-Cowboys: crews still reinforcing Rio de Janeiro field

THE FACT. Crews are still working on the grass at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro ahead of Sunday's Ravens-Cowboys game, stitching synthetic fiber into the surface to improve its durability and safety, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk on Friday. Officials acknowledged the field will not look good on television, and both teams get early access to sort out footwear.

THE VERDICT. Do not overreact to a bad-looking field. Redraft: start your Ravens and Cowboys exactly as ranked, because surface complaints almost never show up in a box score. DFS: it is a mild argument for leaning on volume over deep shots, since poor footing tends to hurt route breaks and downfield timing more than inside runs and short-area targets. Betting: totals players can give the under a small nudge, though the market has had this news all week.
