L'Jarius Sneed: Chiefs place cornerback on injured reserve

THE FACT. The Chiefs placed cornerback L'Jarius Sneed on injured reserve Saturday, a team announcement reported by Chiefs Wire's John Dillon and SB Nation's Arrowhead Pride. Arrowhead Pride wrote that the knee issue had left Sneed questionable in consecutive weeks and that the stint costs him at least four games, while Chiefs On SI reported Kansas City signed cornerback Melvin Smith off the practice squad to take the roster spot.
THE VERDICT. Four games minimum makes Sneed a drop in weekly-lineup IDP formats, and a hold in Dynasty since he is expected back this season. IDP: let the coverage snaps go to Kristian Fulton, who Chiefs Wire expects to be leaned on in Sneed's place. The bigger angle points the other way. With Sneed gone and Mansoor Delane also ruled out, Kansas City's secondary is thin for a division game, which lifts Denver's pass catchers in Redraft and DFS.

Agree on the IDP side, but the broad Denver pass-catcher bump is the part I'd fight. Fantasy Life's Week 9 start/sit is actually benching Courtland Sutton this week, and he was WR10 through five weeks before the target competition spiked. Waddle's chest still has him questionable, and with RJ Harvey out it's Dobbins and Jonah Coleman carrying the backfield. Two missing corners help the quarterback before they help any one receiver. I'd rather just roster Bo Nix and take all the volume than guess which wideout eats.
