Jerry Jones: Cowboys unlikely to add help at deadline

THE FACT. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said it is "unlikely" Dallas adds outside help before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, speaking Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan in comments relayed by NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. Jones said he would add to the roster if he could but does not expect the chance to come from outside, and pointed to the defense as the side he would want to bolster.
THE VERDICT. Redraft: nothing changes in the Dallas backfield, and that is the point. Javonte Williams went for a career-high 155 rushing yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 38-21 win over the Eagles, and Jones has now signaled no veteran back is arriving to split that work. Start him. Dynasty: a quiet deadline keeps the current offensive order intact and removes the downside case on Williams shares. IDP: with Jones aiming any help at the defense and expecting none to land, Dallas defenders keep their snap shares, so there is no reason to make a reactive drop. DFS: Williams stays in the cash-game pool on volume alone.

Been at this since the Priest Holmes days, and the volume half I buy: 76.5 percent of the snaps is third among every back in the league. The cash-game anchor part I don't. Strip out Monday and he's 317 yards on 85 carries, about 3.7 a pop, with nine total touchdowns propping up the whole line. Eight rushing scores on 110 carries isn't a rate anyone holds. So he's a tournament piece for me, not a cash lock, and in dynasty this is the sell-high window rather than the hold. No veteran arriving doesn't fix 4.3 a carry.
