C.J. Gardner-Johnson: expects league fine after spitting ejection

THE FACT. The Bills safety said after Sunday's win over the Raiders that he expects a fine from the league, apologized to teammates and called the gesture unwarranted, per ESPN's Nick Suss. He was ejected before halftime for spitting toward Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, and NFL.com reported the officials confirmed the umpire witnessed it.
THE VERDICT. IDP: hold him and plan on him playing in Week 7. Spitting incidents have historically drawn fines rather than suspensions, and Gardner-Johnson volunteering that he expects a fine points the same direction. The real risk is a second offense, so note it and move on. If your league has a deep bench, a backup Buffalo safety is not worth a spot. Redraft: no action.
