Most sleeper lists are vibes. This one is not. Every name below is here because somebody in front of them landed on the final Week 1 injury report. Opportunity is the only input that reliably turns a bench player into a starter, and the league publishes it every Friday afternoon.

1. JOSH DOWNS, WR, COLTS (vs. Ravens). THE FACT: Downs is off the injury report entirely after a calf issue, while Alec Pierce was limited all week with a heel problem. Ravens-Colts is a 47.5 total with Baltimore favored by 3.5. THE VERDICT: flex him in PPR. A healthy slot man in the highest-total game of the early window, with the field-stretcher beside him compromised, is a volume bet you can make without flinching.

2. JAKOBI MEYERS, WR, JAGUARS (vs. Browns). THE FACT: Meyers was limited with a thumb issue but practiced every day, and Jacksonville is favored by 8.5 - the largest spread in the early window - against a Cleveland team that lost guard Teven Jenkins and is working around a thumb injury at center. THE VERDICT: start him in three-receiver leagues. Favorites that big throw efficiently and early, and Meyers is the one Jaguar whose route tree does not depend on the score.

3. JACORY CROSKEY-MERRITT, RB, COMMANDERS (at Eagles). THE FACT: Croskey-Merritt was limited with a groin issue but avoided a designation, and Washington is a 6-point underdog in a 44.5-total game. THE VERDICT: a deep-league dart, not a flex. Underdogs throw, and the reason to be interested is receiving work - if he is on the field on third down, the PPR floor is real even in a loss.

4. THE TAMPA BAY RECEIVER ROOM (at Bengals). THE FACT: Jalen McMillan is doubtful with a knee injury and Sean Tucker is doubtful with a hamstring, in a game with the highest total on the entire slate at 50.5. THE VERDICT: this is a concentration play. Two rotational pieces being out in a 50-point projected game means the snaps consolidate, and the survivors of that room are all live in DFS at a discount nobody has adjusted yet.

5. THE RAIDERS TIGHT END ROOM (vs. Dolphins). THE FACT: Brock Bowers did not practice all week with a knee injury. Las Vegas is a 3-point favorite in a 40.5-total game - the second-lowest on the board. THE VERDICT: streaming-only, and only in leagues 14 teams deep. Bowers is the target share in that offense. Whoever replaces him inherits the routes but not the attention, and a 40.5 total caps the whole thing. The real verdict is on Bowers managers: do not drop him, and do not talk yourself into the handcuff as a season-long asset.

THE PROCESS: read the Friday report, not the Wednesday one. Wednesday tells you who is hurt. Friday tells you who is playing. Every name above moved between those two days, and that is the window where a sleeper is still cheap.
