THE FACT. Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. sat out both Wednesday and Thursday practice with a hamstring injury, according to the Chargers' official Week 6 injury report ahead of Sunday's game at Kansas City. NFL.com listed him as a non-participant Thursday as well.

THE VERDICT. IDP: James is one of the few safeties you start without thinking, which makes two missed practices a real problem. Treat him as doubtful until Friday's designation and have a replacement rostered. The same report lists cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Rodney Shelley with hamstring issues of their own, so Los Angeles has reason to be careful rather than rush him back. Fade in DFS, and downgrade the Chargers defense against Kansas City.
