Sam Darnold: Seahawks not considering IR, Drew Lock starts Week 2

THE FACT. Seattle is not considering injured reserve for quarterback Sam Darnold right now despite the hip injury that will keep him out of Week 2 against the Cardinals, according to a Field Gulls report published on Yahoo Sports early Friday morning that cites NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Nothing in the report points to a long absence; Drew Lock starts in Darnold's place with Jalen Milroe as the backup, and an IR stint would have shelved Darnold until at least Week 7.

THE VERDICT. Redraft: hold Darnold if you have the bench room; a return in early October is the working timeline and there is no reason to cut a top-15 quarterback for a one- or two-week absence. Two-QB and Superflex: Lock is a low-end streamer against Arizona, nothing more. Kenneth Walker, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp keep their normal spots, but shave a tier off the passing game while Lock is under center. DFS: fade the Seahawks passing stack this week.
