Da'Shawn Hand: torn quad expected to end his season

THE FACT. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Monday morning that Atlanta defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand is believed to have torn his quadriceps and is facing season-ending surgery. Hand, who signed a one-year deal with the Falcons this offseason, played seven snaps in Sunday's loss at Pittsburgh before exiting, and per that report he is seeking additional medical opinions before deciding on treatment.
THE VERDICT. Treat this as a lost season until Atlanta says otherwise. IDP: drop Hand in every format. He was a rotational interior piece, not a weekly starter, so the real read is on the snaps around him. Per the same report Atlanta is already without Jalon Walker for the year and is waiting on James Pearce to finish a suspension, which makes the next man up on that defensive front a deep-league streaming target once the Week 2 rotation shows itself. Redraft: no action.
