Browns: Watson starts Week 1, Shedeur Sanders is the backup

THE FACT. Head coach Todd Monken said Deshaun Watson will start Sunday against Jacksonville and that Shedeur Sanders is expected to be the backup, per NFL.com on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Rookie Dillon Gabriel is on injured reserve with a back injury, per Yahoo Sports.
THE VERDICT. Redraft: Watson is a QB2 in superflex and 2QB formats only; there is no reason to start him in one-QB leagues against a Jaguars defense that can rush the passer. Sanders is a hold in dynasty and a watch in redraft; keep him on the waiver radar because Cleveland has a short leash history at quarterback. Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku hold their WR3 and TE1 ranges regardless of who is throwing. DFS: fade Cleveland skill players until we see Watson play a full game.
